Kurt has led a nomadic existence since turning professional in 1972. He made a few appearances on The European Tour in the late 1970's and early 1980's but as a young man spent most of his time in Asia where he won the 1978 Rolex Championship, the 1980 Indian and Singapore Opens and the 1982 Hong Kong Open.
Kurt played on the US Senior Tour in 1998 before coming to Europe in 2000 when a share of third place at the Belfry PGA Seniors Championship helped him to finish 28th on the Order of Merit. At the end of 2001 he returned home and regained his US Senior Tour card but lost his playing privileges again after finishing 78th on the money list with earnings of $142,737. Things got worse when he missed his card at the subsequent 2001 US Qualifying School although he did gain some compensation when he earned the 15th card at the European equivalent a couple of months later.
