Started playing golf at the age of seven at Royal Selangor Golf Club and turned pro in 1962 and foundeed the Malaysian PGA togetehr with 13 other pioneer professionals in 1967. His first tournament was the 1962 Malaysian Open at RSGC.
Perumal played in the Asian Senior Masters 2003 in Singapore and the 2006 ASM Malaysia.
