Malaysia's M Ramayah ( third from left ) took the early lead in the first round of
the Asian Senior Masters @ Malaysia 2007 on Friday 7th September 2007.
Ramayah's good form continued at the US$100,000 Asian Senior Masters @ Malaysia at Palm Garden Golf Club in Putrajaya, with an excellent first round score of five under par 67 to take a one shot lead.
In joint second place on 68 is former Malaysian Open champion, Brian Jones from Australia, along with Taiwan's Chung Chun Hsing, the 2006 ASM @ Phuket Champion. The group of players in joint fourth place, on 69, includes Asian Tour newcomer, David Saunders from Australia, Asian Tour veteran, Don Klenk of the United States, Thailand's Phachoen Prempleeda, Lai Chung Hui and Tseng Chin Fa from Taiwan, and New Zealander Craig Owen.
The ASM @ Malaysia 2007 Amateur Championship features many Golf Club Champions from Malaysia (many at the invitation of the Golf Malaysia Champions of Champions) with the qualifying rounds having been played through the week in the Citi and Giant Pro-Am Amateur qualifier events. The other five Pro-Ams also saw the emergence of three of Malaysia's leading amateurs as semi finalists to play in Sunday's Final round.
Friday's ASM @ Malaysia Amateur Semi-finalists are Jean Daniels on 68, the 2006 reigning champion, Iylia Jamil with a 69, and Chan Sin Loong who returned a score of 70.
The Asian Seniors Tour, now in its fifth year, is looking forward to a great weekend of golf with twenty seven professionals all within just four strokes of M Ramayah.
